The race was started under yellow flags as the rainy conditions from the morning sessions hadn’t yet improved. Once the race got underway on lap 2, Lacko pulled out gap at the front whilst the 4 drivers behind him stayed close to each other.
The Buggyra Zero Mileage driver seemed to be on a rocket ship as the gap to Janiec in second grew bigger each lap. When he finally crossed the finish line, Lacko had a huge 24s advantage over second place.
Anthony Janiec, who initially crossed the line in second, continued his great form from the morning sessions, however he got hit with a penalty for track limits which saw him drop back into seventh in the final standings.
Local hero Norbert Kiss, who started the race from fifth, got close to Antonio Albacete a few times and finally overtook the Spaniard on lap 9 to move into fourth place. The Hungarian was now hunting down Jochen Hahn ahead of him. Kiss made quick work of the German and passed him on the penultimate lap to take second place with the German finishing in third.
A lot of the drivers struggled with grip on the wet Hungaroring, like Steffen Faas, who had a moment on lap 3 where he nearly went off but managed to keep his Scania on the track. He took home the win in the Goodyear cup and finished a respectable fifth overall, his best result to date in an ETRC race, after he held off Téo Calvet in the final stages of the race.
The Frenchman put the pressure on Faas, who struggled with grip. Calvet spotted a gap and made a move on the last lap, but the two made contact, Calvet drop back a bit to finish sixth overall, also his best result in the FIA ETRC so far. He also took second in the Goodyear cup.
Luis Recuenco completed the Goodyear Cup podium in third and took 9th place overall, a position the Spaniard will be happy with after a somewhat slow start to the season in Most.
Steffi Halm finished eight and Clemens Hecker took tenth ahead of Aliyyah Koloc, who managed to get more Goodyear Cup points to her name.
