What the drivers said on Saturday at Nogaro

11 June 2016

Find out what some of the drivers said after the Saturday races at Circuit Paul Armagnac, Nogaro

Norbert Kiss – Tankpool24 Racing

“I am really happy and it was very unexpected that we are so strong here in Nogaro. OK the circuit is good for our current package and the team have been working a lot in the past weeks as we try to improve on the engine. So the new truck I think is just awesome, not perfect, because there is always a little bit of room to improve but it seems pole position and victory is quite unbelievable today.

“I am thankful to the team, because we are doing a good job and improving every day and here we are again in first position and it is a very good feeling.”

Rene Reinert – Reinert Racing

“Perfect! It was not actually the best day for me up until this, as I had a little bit of problems in practice and also in qualifying we were only fourth place. In the first race I lost one place and so in the end I was only fifth, so I was not so happy or satisfied.

“But in the second race I had more luck and I had a good start and gained two places and after two laps I was already in the front of the race.

“Then after three or four laps Jochen overtook Ellen for second so he come and he pushed me and I had to be faster and faster to hold Jochen behind.

“I trust Jochen and I know that he doesn’t make some crazy things, he is a fair driver so I just try to make no mistake and I knew if I make a mistake then he will overtake me but I didn’t give him any chance and it was great result for Reinert Racing.

Jochen Hahn - Hahn Racing

"We had a problem in the free practice but we are very happy we think we have found a good set up, but we go to the timed practice with new tyres and we cannot find the performance of the tyres, we have it in Misano, we have it today and in the race it is much more better, we can fight for the second place with Adam.  It is not possible to follow Norbi, as he lose diesel in the first 3 laps so he made a gap for the diesel, so OK it is not a foul for Norbi, but in the end we lose to fight for the first place in the race.  I am not actually really happy, so we must learn a lot for tomorrow for the championship.  When we are in the lead we can enjoy more."

Adam Lacko – Buggyra International Racing System

“At the start of race one I went clearly to (pass) Norbi and he maybe push me onto the last corner and this is the reason why he go to the front and after three laps Norbi had some diesel coming from his tank and this is the reason why we have a gap.

“I am happy, but as I say to everybody it is too early looking to the championship because the next race maybe I have broken something and I don’t finish and so it can completely change everything in the championship, it is very far until Le Mans (the final event).”

Ellen Lohr – Truck Sport Lutz Bernau

“Well actually Nogaro is always good for me because I did some good results already, but nevertheless, fourth in the second race toay is good, I am just happy – I am scratching on the podium now – well no a podium would be another big step, but it was very good to give something back to the team, because they really work hard.

“Actually it is my best result in truck racing (the current set up).  I had one third place in Misano, but this was in the old Super Race times, so in the current set up this is my best result and I am more than satisfied.  It was of course a battle because I knew today that the top three runners in the championship are quicker, so how to manage that and then keep the fourth place against Anthony Janiec, local hero and very motivated; then Kiss who had just scored the first win for Mercedes (Race 1) so it was very, very tough until the end, so I am very happy.”
