Norbert Kiss took pole and both race wins in an action packed round at Le Mans
The Hungarian secured his third pole in a row as he posted the fastest lap in qualifying ahead of Manuel Alvarez and Sascha Lenz.
Kiss lead the field away in race 1 and took another lights-to-flag win to secure his third victory in the ETRC Digital Racing Challenge.
Lenz moved up into into second after the start and Hahn into third. However the German made contact with Manuel Alvarez, spun and dropped back into 14th.
Josy Villa who qualified eighth took advantage of the chaos in the first corner and moved up into third, putting the pressure on Lenz ahead of him. Lenz stayed ahead though to secure second, his best finish to date in this year’s ETRC Digital Racing Challenge.
Alvarez dropped to fifth and caught up with Jonathan André ahead, who got forced into a mistake and went off track, which allowed Alvarez to move into fourth. He caught up with fellow Spanish driver Josy Vila and got past on the last lap. However Alvarez got a 5-second time penalty for pushing Lukas Hahn and he eventually finished fourth in the final standings.
Lukas Hahn who worked his way up the grid after the first corner reshuffle got stuck into the fight for pole position in the reversed-grid race with Björn Tijhuis and Antonio Albacete. The German’s plan first worked out, as he secured the top spot for the second race start. He got too close to Steffen Kirsch in seventh though, pushed him off the track and got a 5-second penalty.
RACE 2
Björn Tijhuis started the reversed-grid race from pole. Lukas Hahn got a better start, Jonathan André behind him moved into second with Josy Vila in third.
Norbert Kiss made a flying start, shot up into third from eight on the grid and turned up the heat on Vila in second. The pair battled over several laps, which allowed Hahn to pull out a gap in front and Jonathan André to catch up behind. The Frenchman ran into trouble, spun off track and dropped back into 12th.
Kiss turned up the heat on Vila and the pair fought hard for position. Kiss came out on top and started to hunt down Lukas Hahn, who had a 6 second gap.
The race went all the way down to the wire as the Hungarian managed to overtake Hahn on the last corner to take the chequered flag ahead of the German.
