Cab's eye view of Nogaro with Adam Lacko

10 June 2016

Let Adam Lacko be your guide around the Circuit Paul Armagnac, Nogaro as he gets ready for this weekend's crucial third round of the 2016 FIA ETRC

"Nogaro is one of the more complicated tracks on the calendar. The track itself is old (more than 55 years), but it has a really nice new pits complex building which keeps up with other more modern venues. The first half of the track is newer and wider than the second part which begins after the back straight where a combination of narrower complicated turns makes the track challenging.

"My favourite part of the track is the back straight which is right next to the local airport, so you see airplanes and helicopters flying around all day long! Once you’re done with plane spotting, you can concentrate on braking into the corner which is not an easy task as you have to brake from maximum speed and the turn itself is very slow.

"I’d say that one of the trickier parts of the track is turn four . You also enter it in high speed, but it keeps on tithing??, so you have to keep turning and braking at the same time, which means that the tyres can easily overheat which results in low adhesion.

"Racing a truck is different to car racing in a number of ways, obviously the main difference is the size and weight. But what you have to get used to when you switch from cars to trucks are the air brakes. In GT cars. the brakes are more sensitive and precise, so you really have to be delicate unlike with race trucks.

"We are expecting really hot weather conditions with a lot of sunshine this weekend. I really enjoy visiting the area around Nogaro. I like good food and good wine, which is exactly what you get when you go  there. It doesn’t matter which restaurant you visit, you can always tell that most of the ingredients are local and the people are very friendly.

"Traveling to Nogaro is really complicated from Czech Republic, so we don’t get many of our fans to come, but the locals seem to love the event so there’s always a huge crowd creating a great atmosphere. What I really love about Nogaro is the Downtown Trial Show which always takes place on Friday. Driving with the trucks through the city streets, seeing everyone on their porches cheering and getting close to the fans during the autograph session on the main square is simply a great experience.

"Hope to see you there…"
