KISS RECLAIMS TOP STEP AS HE WINS BOTH RACES AT MOST

5 July 2020

Round 5 of the ETRC Digital Racing Challenge saw a slightly smaller field with 10 drivers lining up on the virtual grid in Most, including a new guest entry, Frans Smit, who substituted for Clemens Hecker. Following a change of the rules it was decided, that guest drivers will get 50% of their scored points for all races contested so far.

Norbert Kiss took his fifth straight pole as he posted the fastest lap in qualifying ahead of Sascha Lenz and Lukas Hahn.

Race 1 saw a turbulent start when Lukas Hahn, who started in third, got past Sascha Lenz on the inside line and bumped into Norbert Kiss in the first corner, forcing him to go off into the gravel. Kiss managed to get himself back on track and pulled away from the field.

For most of the race it was a three way battle for second, as Sascha Lenz who recovered from a slow start, stayed close to Hahn while fending off Jonathan André behind him. Lenz tried everything to get past but couldn’t find a way through.

When the flag fell, Norbert Kiss took home a dominant win in the opening race of the day, scoring his eighth win, ahead of Lukas Hahn and Sascha Lenz.

In the second race Adam Lacko started on pole ahead of Jamie Anderson and Teo Calvet. After the first start got red-flagged, race 2 got underway with Jamie Anderson racing past Adam Lacko to take the lead of the race. Téo Calvet stayed close to his Buggyra team-mate and made his way past into second. The Frenchman took over the lead when Anderson got a 10 second penalty.

Norbert Kiss, who started from eight, made short work of the opposition overtaking three trucks at the exit of turn 1 and moved into third on the second lap. He chased down Téo Calvet and when the French driver ran wide, powered past him to take the lead of the race. Calvet didn’t give up easily and fought back but could’t get past the Hungarian and had to eventually settle for second.

Sascha Lenz had a great battle with Lukas Hahn where he kept the upper hand to drive home another podium.
