Meet the Grid: TOR Truck Racing

20 April 2020

The TOR truck racing team runs ambitious UK racer Shane Brereton who has shown in recent seasons his increasing talent in the championship.

Brereton’s motorsport journey began on the turn of the millennium from short oval racing. From then on he moved on to Europe’s equivalent of NASCAR – a series called ASCAR that used to be held at the Rockingham oval.

He also raced pickups and late models before making his truck-racing debut in 2015, finishing seventh overall in the British Truck Racing Championship.

After making his FIA ETRC debut at the Nürburgring in 2016, Brereton quickly made a name for himself on the British scene before entering more races in 2017. His big breakthrough success came at Autodrom Most that year, where he scored an excellent win in race four soaking up massive pressure.

Further success came in the Promoters Cup where he took a total of six victories on his way to fifth in the standings despite only taking part in three events at Hungaroring, Most and Le Mans.

Brereton was back for a full campaign in 2018 with an updated MAN truck run by the TOR truck crew. In the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP there was no match for Brereton who scored an impressive total of 19 class victories out of 32 races to become the class champion. Nearly half of his wins (eight) came as clean sweeps of all four races at the Nürburgring and Jarama. The British racer was also a consistent points scorer overall, having taken points every weekend.

In 2019 Shane only ran in a handful of races at the Nürburgring and at Le Mans but will be back for a full season in 2020.
