The new FIA European Truck Racing Championship Fan village proved a big hit with fans at the season opener in Austria over the weekend.
The specially created area acts as a hub to attract, entertain and inform fans who visit the FIA ETRC in 2016.
Featuring interesting technical information on the stars of the show – the trucks themselves, the engagement for the public proved popular over the three days at Red Bull Ring last weekend.
Official FIA ETRC partners – Goodyear, Meritor and Borg Warner, UTA and Daimler all had displays and activations in the Fan Village and engrossed the public with their engineering and technical excellence.
Bringing fresh reaction to the races from the drivers, the crowd were able to hear insights and drama from the top three finishers immediately after the race. The post-race was conducted for the first time ever in the paddock and at the relaxed setting of the Fan Village meaning the fans got unprecedented access to their heroes as soon as they left the cockpit.
“We want to bring even more access to the fans this season,” said European Truck Racing Association’s Managing Director Georg Fuchs. “Trucks have always had an excellent relationship with its followers and in 2016 we will be able to offer this focal point in the paddock. We don’t want anything to be completely exclusive, so we are also hosting the post-race press conferences here. It is a great opportunity for the fans to feel the emotions of their stars and heroes.”
The local event organiser Red Bull Ring also brought with the singer Tom Astor, a square dance group and an Elvis imitator swing and entertainment to the Event Village. Additional features and expanded ideas will be added to the Fan Village area throughout 2016 so make sure you come and get the inside-line on the FIA ETRC.
