Hahn Takes Second Pole of Weekend

23 June 2019

Reigning FIA ETRC champion Jochen Hahn continues to dominate at the Hungaroring...

Jochen Hahn claimed his second pole position in as many days after setting a time of 2:19.326 at the Hunagroring this morning. The track surface was completely dry when the session started despite heavy overnight rain.

As a result the Hahn Racing IVECO ace registered his third pole of the season to date.

Steffi Halm went just 0.359 slower but made it 1-2 for IVECO and will line up her Team Schwabentruck machine alongside Hahn on the front-row of the grid.

There was a remarkable battle for third on the grid with both Sascha Lenz and Norbert Kiss setting identical times of 2:19.807, but it is the SL Trucksport 30 driver who will take the spot due to setting his time first.

The third row of the grid will be shared by Antonio Albacete’s Truck Sport Lutz Bernau entry and André Kursim’s Don’t Touch Racing IVECO. Kursim suffered a setback having his best lap time disallowed due to track limits.

René Reinert, aboard his Reinert Racing IVECO, went seventh quickest in the session and will have Luis Recenco’s white and green Truck Sport Lutz Bernau machine for company on row four of the grid, with the Spaniard being fastest GRAMMER TRUCK CUP runner.

Byggyra Racing’s Adam Lacko tough weekend continued as he qualified only ninth. The 2017 FIA ETRC champion will share the fifth row of the grid with T-Sport’s Terry Gibbon, who exceeded expectations making it into the Super Pole session the day after his 37th birthday.

Hahn leads the way in Time Practice, Lenz not far off

There were no surprises in the Timed Practice session held directly before the Super Pole running.

Hahn was the benchmark for other drivers on this occasion as well, with his nearest rival being Lenz, 0.052s off the reigning champions time. The following places went to Kursim, Kiss and Halm, while Lacko secured a Super Pole spot with a late 2:20.807, which was good enough for sixth overall. Albacete went seventh fastest, with Reinert in eighth.

Terry Gibbon did an excellent job to set a ninth-quickest lap time, leading the way in the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP. The top ten was rounded out by second in the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP standings, Recuenco.

11th overall was Jamie Anderson, who was the first among the drivers who missed out on the Super Pole session. His Anderson Racing MAN, will be joined by a Team Tankpool24 Racing's Mercedes-Benz machine of Fabio Citignola on row six of the grid.

Eduardo Rodrigues (Reboconort Truck Racing Team) and Dominique Orsini (Team Orsini Racing) will start ahead of yesterday's Race 1 podium finisher José Rodrigues and GRAMMER TRUCK CUP points leader Oly Janes. All four had their lap times disallowed due to track limits infringements.
