6 October 2018

Jochen Hahn dominated the Super Pole session to take another pole....

Jochen Hahn in his Team Hahn Racing IVECO dominated the Super Pole session, setting purple sectors on his first fast lap to record an impressive 1:56.536. There was no match for the 2018 FIA ETRC champion.

Norbert Kiss was second quickest in his Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz truck, with the Hungarian just 0.724 off Hahn’s time, but crucially 0.136 ahead of local ace Antonio Albacete in his Truck Sport Lutz Bernau MAN entry.

Sasha Lenz aboard his SL Trucksport MAN went fourth-fastest despite having his lap time canceled for touching penalty markers.

Row three on the grid will be shared by outgoing champion Adam Lacko (Buggyra International Racing System/Freightliner) and, another driver who had one of his times canceled, André Kursim.

José Rodrigues made the most of his track knowledge to qualify a very respectable seventh overall in his Reboconort MAN. He will be joined on the fourth row of the grid by rapid Frenchman Anthony Janiec driving the Lion Truck Racing MAN.

Rene Reinert in a MAN run by his Reinert Racing outfit will start ninth and will be joined by the winner of the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP Shane Brereton (TOR Truck Racing), who went off at Turn 3 and ended up in the tyre barrier as the session was about to end.

Timed Practice: Hahn on top, Halm misses out

Hahn went quickest in Timed Practice, setting (1:56.914). Albacete was only 0.178s off the German’s time, to finish ahead of his arch rivals, Kiss and Lenz.

Further places in the top ten went to: Kursim, Lacko, Reinert, Janiec, Brereton, and José Rodrigues.

Steffi Halm in her Team Schwabentruck MAN finished 11th and was a surprise omission from the Super Pole Session.

Halm was followed by the GRAMMER TURCK CUP competitors, who were led by Terry Gibbon (T-Sport/MAN) in 12th, who despite having one of his lap times canceled for breaching track limits, qualified solid 12th overall and second in the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP. Gibbon was followed Luis Recuenco (Truck Sport Lutz Bernau/MAN), Steffen Faas (Team Tankpool24 Racing/Mercedes-Benz), Oly Janes (Buggyra International Racing System/Freightliner), Jamie Anderson (Anderson Racing/MAN), Frankie Vojtisek (Czech Truck Racing Team/MAN), Eduardo Rodrigues (Reboconort/MAN), Erwin Kleinnagelvoort (EK Truck Race/Scania), Ray Coleman (LRS/MAN) who completed the top 20th.

Further places went to the local race-by-race entrants in the following order: José Alberto Vila Sainz (MAN), José Eduardo Rodrigues (Reboconort/MAN), Pedro Marco Sanchez (MAN) and Orlando Rodriguez Ruiz (Mercedes-Benz).

Another local racer Alejandro Diaz had his lap times canceled due to his truck smoking.

Frans Smit did not take part in the session as his team didn’t manage to fix his truck in time following a technical issue he sustained in Free Practice 2.
