Hahn's Assured Race 3 Win

15 July 2018

Jochen Hahn headed home rival Adam Lacko to take his sixth win of the 2018 season in Race 3 today...

Jochen Hahn claimed his sixth win of the 2018 FIA European Truck Racing Championship season in the third Slovakia Ring race today.

The Hahn Racing IVECO driver further extended his championship lead as he led home polesitter Adam Lacko by just 0.443s.

It was another accomplished drive by Hahn who is aiming to become a five-time champion in the FIA ETRC this season.

Hahn cleared Lacko’s Buggyra International Racing System Freightliner as they went through the last corner on the opening lap and was never headed despite Lacko’s best efforts to get back on terms.

The final podium place saw a riveting battle between Steffi Halm’s Team Schwabentruck IVECO and Norbert Kiss’ Mercedes-Benz. The pair were engaged in battle for most of the race but it was eventually Halm who took the third place and Kiss who faced disappointment as he fell down the order to sixth place after gaining a 10-second penalty for overspeeding.

The Hungarian’s penalty allowed André Kursim’s Don’t Touch Racing IVECO in to fourth and Sascha Lenz’s SL Trucksport MAN through into fifth position.

Antonio Albacete was in the hunt for a potential podium position as he joined the Halm and Kiss battle but the Spaniard also received three 10-second penalties and was ultimately excluded from the results.

René Reinert had a competitive race but was also adjudged to have gone over his power limit and fell back to seventh position.

Claiming the reverse grid pole for eighth was GRAMMER TRUCK CUP victor Steffen Faas. The Tankpool24 Mercedes-Benz driver resisted pressure from yesterday’s overall race two winner Shane Brereton to take the maximum score for CHROME categorised drivers.

Sealing the final rung of the category podium was Oly Janes who led the way in the early running before a 10s penalty moved him down in the results.

Frankie Vojtisek just missed out on overall points and ended the race with damage to his truck after an early race incident with rival Ray Coleman.

Vojtisek was also placed under investigation along with Erwin Kliennagelvoort for another incident towards the end of the race.

Coleman came in just behind Vojtisek after his LRS team solved its turbo issue from qualifying earlier today.

Kleinnagelvoort retired on lap six, while Luis Recuenco retired after contact with Shane Brereton on the opening lap.

In the Team's Championship, it was Die Bullen von IVECO Magirus (Hahn/Halm) from Buggyra Racing 1969 (Lacko/Janes) and Team Reinert Adventure (Reinert/Lenz).

The fourth and final race of the Slovakia Ring weekend is scheduled to begin at 17.20 local time.
