British racer Shane Brereton took his second career FIA European Truck Racing Championship victory in semi-reversed grid Race 2 held at the Slovakia Ring on Saturday afternoon.
After finishing eight in Race 1, Brereton (who also sits on top of the standings in the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP) found himself on pole for Race 2. He then took a lights to flag victory, staying away from the opening lap chaos and resisting pressure from the back.
Jochen Hahn, who started all the way back in seventh, capitalised on the incident that resulted in Adam Lacko and Andre Kursim going through the gravel trap on the outside of Turn 1. The Team Hahn Racing driver was initially running fourth but started to climb up the order as the race unfolded, dealing first with Sascha Lenz and later with Rene Reinert.
Reinert, aboard his Team Reinert Racing MAN, completed the podium, maintaining his starting position.
Norbert Kiss brought his Team Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz truck home in fourth overall after a late challenge on Sascha Lenz who finished one place behind aboard his self-run SL Trucksport MAN.
Race 1 winner Antonio Albacete had an rather uneventful race and finished sixth, having started eighth.
Steffi Halm, who failed to finish Race 1 following a coming together with Steffen Faas, was charging through the pack following a start from the very back of the grid. Finally, the Schawabentruck IVECO racer took points for seventh overall.
Adam Lacko, was another driver on a mission to recover lost ground following the first lap incident and the reigning champion took eighth position losing further ground to title points leader Hahn.
The top ten was rounded out by two GRAMMER TRUCK CUP competitors, Ray Coleman (LRS Racing/MAN) and Steffen Faas (Team Tankpool24 Racing/Mercedes-Benz).
Andre Kursim, who was also involved in the opening lap incident, reached the finish 11th overall driving his Don’t Touch Racing IVECO.
