Here's what the top drivers from both Saturday's races had to say once the dust had settled at Circuito del Jarama.....
Race 1
1st Antonio Albacete – Truck Sport Lutz Bernau | MAN
”Last year I watched the race from the tower and to come back, score pole position and win the race, it feels really great. I’m delighted with this win, especially that it came in the best moment – here at home. The only problem was the fact that we run out of water on the last lap. I was using a lot of water because the temperature of the engine was high, so I was using more than normal. That was the only thing.”
2nd Adam Lacko – Buggyra International Racing System | Freightliner
”It feels great. I’m really happy, especially because before the start things didn’t look great for us. We had to change the engine before qualifying and the race and we had only 55 minutes for this action. The guys did a really great job finishing two or three minutes before it was time to go to the grid, so it was a little bit stressful. Then we had a problem with the servo pump and the last three laps were very hard. That was the reason why Antonio opened up a little bit of a gap.”
3rd Jochen Hahn – Team Hahn Racing | Iveco
”I’m not happy with qualifying. Then, in the race David [Vršecký] blocked me hard, again and again, just like in the past races. Finally he was shown blue flags and he let me past. In the end, I had the same lap times as Antonio and Adam but I was too far back.”
Race 2
1st David Vrsecky – Buggyra International Racing System | Freightliner
“I had to say ‘thank you’ to Antonio for the fair play. Sometimes he was very close and I know that he could have pushed me more but we remained without contact. The truck was working perfect and the circuit is my favourite of the season, it has ups and down. Since the first race, I’m happy because Adam became the champion. I really don’t understand the blue flag decision. Jochen was only 0.3, 0.4s faster. I wasn’t blocking, I wasn’t five seconds slower and I wasn’t a lap down.”
2nd Antonio Albacete – Truck Sport Lutz Bernau | MAN
“This time I was lucky at the start. I went into the inside but when I came out of the corner I was without the boost. If I had the boost, I probably would have come out in the first position but anyway it was good. It was difficult with David. He was braking well, so I didn’t have an advantage under braking. Overall it’s unbelievable, I’m very happy.”
3rd Gerd Korber – Team Schwabentruck | Iveco“Of course it wasn’t easy [to keep Jochen Hahn and Norbert Kiss] behind. The whole season I had a problem with this truck, but now, since Le Mans, I started to understand it and the driveability is much improved. Now, the truck was absolutely perfect.”
