Norbert Kiss took another pole position on Sunday morning at Hungaroring to again delight his home fans

Norbert Kiss took his second consecutive pole position at the Hungaroring this morning to once again stir the large local crowd in to yet more fervour.
The home hero was cheered throughout the grandstands as he hurled his Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz around the 2.722-mile track to set his third Super Pole in the last four sessions. His time of 2m17.503s was enough to seal the pole.
Joining Kiss on the front row will be yesterday’s race two winner Adam Lacko. The Buggyra International Racing System driver was third of a second shy of Kiss’ best this morning.
Steffi Halm reprised her third place starting position from Saturday’s first race with third best time in her Reinert Racing MAN setting a best of 2m18.198s.
Jochen Hahn in his Team Hahn Racing Iveco will start fourth after setting his best time on his second flying lap. Hahn and Kiss are currently tied on 159pts for second place in the standings as they both look to reduce the gap to leader Adam Lacko who is on 202pts.
Antonio Albacete starts from the front of the third row in his Truck Sport Lutz Bernau MAN. The team spent a late night repairing the Spaniard’s charge after damage inflicted in race two yesterday.
Sascha Lenz left it to the last minute to break in to the top six in his SL Trucksport MAN. The German shuffled down Shane Brereton, Ryan Smith, Jose Rodrigues and David Vrsecky to seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth respectively. The Oxxo Energy Racing driver Smith will however start three further places down following a penalty for contact with Kiss in yesterday’s race two.
Brereton continued his fine recent form to also comfortably head the Promoter’s Cup runners, with ninth overall José Rodrigues and 12th overall André Kursim rounding up the top three in the class.
Kiss sets fastest lap of weekend in timed practice
Kiss topped the earlier practice session as well, with a best time which was the fastest of the weekend so far.
The Tankpopol24 Racing driver set the best lap 2m17.403 which beat last year’s fastest lap set by Jochen Hahn. Kiss’ Mercedes-Benz truck, which is utilising a new engine for this race was 0.540s ahead of rival Jochen Hah, Steffi Halm and Adam Lacko.
Those not making it through in to the Super Pole session included Gerd Körber, who was penalised for track limit abuse, André Kursim, Erwin Kleinnagelvoort, Eduardo Rodrigues and Dominique Orsini.
Frankie Vojtisek meanwhile was unable to take part due to a technical problem with his self-run MAN. The team were looking at the engine but were hopeful of getting ready to partake in race three later on.
Others having times deleted for infringing track limits were Ryan Smith (twice), Shane Brereton, Dominique Orsini and Antonio Albacete.
Race three is scheduled to begin at 13.05 local time.
