Here's what the top drivers of both action-packed races at the Nürburgring had to say during press conferences.
Race 1
Adam Lacko – Buggyra International Racing System | Freightliner
“Today it was a really busy race, but I ended up in first position with a little gap over Norbi [Kiss] and I’m very happy with that, because I like wet conditions very much. I’m delighted.
“We will see if it’s dry or wet in the second race because now I’ll start from eighth on the grid and that won’t be so easy. Now I had only three guys in front of me and I had to fight them hard throughout the entire race.”
Norbert Kiss – Tankpool24 Racing | Mercedes-Benz
“I’m quite happy, because I knew that Adam [Lacko] will be very, very fast in the wet and will probably overtake us all. My aim was to try to stay in front of him and to overtake Jochen [Hahn]. I was careful in the beginning and, at the same time, Adam was coming very hard from the back. He overtook me at one point but overshot the turn a little so I could come back at him. That was a good moment and after that I could finally overtake Jochen and have one or two laps in front, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to go as fast as Adam and he overtook me. His truck is really good in the wet conditions, it has very good grip and very good traction, so he can push really hard. We have to find something in the set up if we want to compete with Adam in the wet. I’m happy with second – very good points in the championship.”
Jochen Hahn – Hahn Racing | IVECO
“I’m happy with the race. I went from pole, but because of the conditions I was unable to win. I could only hold on to the lead for six laps or so, but Adam [Lacko] was a class act in these conditions and Norbi [Kiss] did a great job. We didn’t have enough speed in the truck today, it’s the setup… and the driver. The point gap to Adam is not a problem at the moment. When we have dry conditions, I’m sure we can go after him.”
Race 2
Adam Lacko – Buggyra International Racing System | Freightliner
“I think today’s performance is not bad. In race two I had a very good start and then I passed Antonio [Albacete]. Then I had fights with many drivers, but I managed to win and that’s very important. The conditions were a little bit dryer, but not that much really. The truck felt great and I’d like thank the entire Buggyra International Racing System team for preparing my truck so well.”
Anthony Janiec – Lion Truck Racing | MAN
“I’m very happy for my team and for myself. It all started with a spin. I was lucky to avoid a major crash and from then on I started to recover lost ground lap-by-lap, taking it step by step and regaining one place at a time. At the end I finished a fantastic second and I couldn’t be happier.”
Gerd Körber – Team Schwabentruck | IVECO
“It was absolutely a great performance from the entire team and many, many thanks to them. I was on pole for the reverse-grid race, but it was clear to me that I’ll never ever finish first in the race held in wet conditions, because at the moment I’m not comfortable with the truck. It’s a very good truck, but I must learn to understand it better, hence I’m happy to be able to finish on the podium, with my team-mate Jochen [Hahn] directly behind me. At some stages he was faster and at other I was faster, we did similar lap times and because of this I’m very happy.”
