Adam Lacko claimed his second pole position of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship weekend at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli this morning. It was also his fourth consecutive pole position at the venue, following his double pole achieved last year.

Super Pole

On Saturday the Buggyra International Racing System-run Freightliner driver eclipsed Norbert Kiss by just 0.001s, today – after setting 2:02.594 on his first run – his closest rival was championship leader Jochen Hahn, who lapped the circuit just 0.180s shy of pole in his Team Hahn entered Iveco.

Norbert Kiss will start his Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes Benz just behind the leading duo. The double champion will have Antonio Albacete in his Truck Sport Lutz Bernau MAN for company on the second row. The Spaniard made a comeback in the dying moments of the Super Pole session after his initial time was cancelled due to touching the penalty markers.

Sascha Lenz improved by one place compared to his yesterday’s qualifying effort and will place his SL Trucksport MAN in fifth position on the grid, with his compatriot Steffi Halm starting alongside him. Championship contender, Halm, will have work to do in the race as her main rivals occupying the first row of the grid.

Gerd Körber, in his Team Schwaben-Truck Iveco entry will start seventh, one place ahead of surprise Promoter’s Cup pace setter Thomas Robineau, who only joined the action this weekend and experienced several technical issues on Saturday, including a clutch change just minutes before qualifying.

The Portuguese duo of José Rodrigues and his father Eduardo will complete the fifth row of the grid with their blue Reboconorte MANs.

Timed practice 2

In the earlier timed practice Steffi Halm went fastest from the start of the session, keeping the likes of Adam Lacko, Norbert Kiss, Jochen Hahn and Antonio Albacete at bay.

Gerd Körber went seventh fastest, just as he did in the Super Pole session later. Eighth fastest in the timed practice session this morning was the best of the Promoter’s Cup contenders José Rodrigues and ninth was Thomas Robineau.

Eduardo Rodrigues set 10th fastest time of the session which granted him his first Super Pole appearance of the 2017 season. 11th and 12th fastest were Enes Dragonovic (Buggyra International Racing System) and Dominique Orsini in his privately run Mercedes-Benz truck. They both missed out on going through to Super Pole and will start from their respective positions.

Promoter’s Cup front-runner André Kursim in his Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz didn’t take part in the session after an unspecified technical issue.
