Check out what the drivers said after the Saturday races in round two of the 2017 FIA European Truck Racing Championship at Misano.
Race 1
Adam Lacko – Buggyra International Racing System |Freightliner
"The start was very nice, I tried to make space in every corner and not to push anyone off the track. After that, Norbi was very strong on the brakes and I must look in the mirrors a lot. After, on lap 3, I had a problem with my rear-facing camera and I couldn’t see Norbi… sorry Norbi! From then on I just focused on driving away from him. It is a great result for the whole team."
Norbert Kiss – Tankpool24 Racing | Mercedes-Benz
"It was very close indeed in qualifying. I’m pretty sure if I look at the telemetry I’ll be able to find that thousandth of a second! Still, second place was OK, better than I expected before this weekend, so I’m very happy about it and I’m really happy about the fact that I had a good start and felt that I was a little bit faster during the first three or four laps, but I couldn’t really find a place to try an overtaking manoeuvre, so I tried to hang on and wait a little. Maybe Adam’s tyres would have dropped more than mine? It didn’t really happen that way so we placed second today. "
Steffi Halm – Reinert Racing | MAN
"I was able to overtake Antonio [Albacete] in the beginning of the race, because he tried to push too hard to overtake Jochen, so I could go through. [To Jochen] it was always the same distance, but then at one point Jochen slowed down and I caught up. I thought that he may be having a problem that he could solve, but a few laps later (two or three laps before the end of the race) he slowed down again. I, and also Antonio, were able to overtake him. All in all I’m very happy to finish third."
Race 2
Jochen Hahn – Hahn Racing | IVECO
"I’m very happy. We’re in Italy, the land of Iveco, we won race two today, so I’m very happy. It looks easy from outside but it’s never easy really.
"I had a really good start and could overtake Sascha, he made it absolutely fair play during the overtaking. Then I had Gerd (Körber) in front of me. He made a small mistake and I was able to overtake. Diana (Hahn) told me on the radio, Steffi [Halm] is behind you – 3s… 3.1, 3.2, 2.9! It was close, but it worked out well. Norbi came from behind, but I had enough gap to control the speed and win the race."
Steffi Halm – Reinert Racing | MAN
"For me it was important to get as many points as possible. The start was good. From the beginning it was clear to me that I have to overtake Gerd [Körber] as soon as possible, because I knew that Adam [Lacko] and also Norbi [Kiss] will come from the back. I didn’t try to catch Jochen [Hahn], for me it was about making the most of the opportunity, making the biggest step possible. At the end it was very close, I finished second and I’m very happy."

(quote taken from before results were finalised by the stewards and penalty applied)
"I came together with a lot of people today, but it was very good, I was quite confident and a little bit faster than the two in front of me and Adam [Lacko], so I could try some overtaking manoeuvres. Some of them went really, really well. There was a little bit of contact, but eventually I came home in third. I tried to close down on Steffi, but I ran out of laps. I just caught her on the last lap, but it wasn’t close enough."
