Local truck hero Markus Altenstrasser is hoping to reprise his 2016 heroics at the opening round of the 2017 FIA European Truck Racing Championship at Red Bull Ring next month.

The Schwabentruck driver took two podium positions in 2016 after some accomplished performances against Europe’s best truck racers. Now, Altenstrasser is determined to build on that momentum and score more podium positions at the first 2017 FIA ETRC rounds on 13/14 May.

“The two podium positions last year had definitely been a perfect start into the new season. I was super happy about these results,” said Altenstrasser. “Cards are getting reshuffled this year, but I’m surely trying my best to be up front again.”

The local ace will have stern competition once again as the likes of Antonio Albacete, Adam Lacko and four-time champion Jochen Hahn will be hungry for more trophies.

Reigning European Champion Jochen Hahn will certainly have a say when it comes to the top positions in his new IVECO truck: “I really like to come back to Red Bull Ring year after year,” said the champion. “The setting is just amazing and the program for truck race fans is great. For me it would be perfect, if I can win the first race of the season.”

The season opening of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship will be a true trucking festival at Spielberg.  Beside plenty of motorsport action a stellar supporting program will be provided for the fans.

Highlights of the past years such as the trucker camp, the historic truck exhibition, the US car exhibition, the truck corsos, the industry tradeshow, music concerts and the European Giants competition will remain central pillars of the event. Off-track there will be plenty of entertainment delivered by the Project Spielberg Graz Giants, a highspeed truck show and tattoo artist Mario Barth.
