The second round of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship, at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli over the weekend of May 27-28, will feature expanded interests as PETRONAS was today announced as a major partner of the weekend which will be billed as ‘Planet Truck’.

PETRONAS Urania has committed to supporting the weekend which will see the cream of the world’s truck racing talent battle for supremacy at the famous Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on the east coast of Italy.

Today marks 100 days until the big weekend when thousands of fans will converge on the popular circuit to take in four spectacular championship races of the FIA ETRC.

As well as the guaranteed action on the track, there will also be a carnival atmosphere in and around the paddock as true ‘truck culture’ visits Italy

PETRONAS Urania will be partnered with C&C Publishing Srl to boost the reach and exposure of the weekend.

The Misano Paddock will be expanded to accommodate 150 decorated trucks and a new runway for test driving trucks will also be featured.

Details of the new initiative were made public today at the Verona Fiere, as part of the exhibition Transpotec. The weekend will attract the supply chain of road transport, manufacturers, suppliers, and companies from the transportation world.

The organisers of the PETRONAS Urania Gran Prix Truck which features the second event on the 2017 FIA European Truck Racing Championship, will combine a co-ordinated plan to advance the value of the weekend with the European Truck Racing Association (ETRA) and to enhance the significant added value of television coverage on a global scale.

"After a year the first results are obvious," said Andrea Albani, Managing Director at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. “In 2016 the events at Misano generated 68 hours of dedicated pictures between highlights and news. There were millions viewers in more than 60 countries; the manifestation of Misano had medium coverage of 26 minutes and services were broadcast on Fox Sports Italy and dynamic Sport. Also, attendance was 38,000 in Misano World Circuit in the two-day event last year.”

George Fuchs, Managing Director at ETRA said of the announcement: “We are delighted to welcome PETRONAS Urania and also C&C Publishing Srl as a partner of Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli to the second event on the FIA European Truck Racing championship calendar. Misano is one of the most popular events on the calendar and is always welcome with a good ambience and a knowledgeable and passionate crowd. This year’s event is set to be memorable for not only the trucking fans but also as an important event in the truck industry and truck mobility.”

Misano World Circuit has invested in infrastructure, increasing the paddock space with an additional 10,000 square meters and by strengthening the promotional program. The competition will see this year truck protagonists from Iveco, Mercedes, MAN and Scania go head-head for the FIA ETRC crown.
