Kiss on pole for race 1 in Most

28 August 2021

Norbert Kiss claimed pole for race 1 in Most in a rain interrupted qualifying session on Saturday afternoon.

Qualifying 1 got underway on dry track at Autodrom Most, with Kiss topping the timesheets in the session, ahead of Sascha Lenz and Jochen Hahn.

Just as the trucks lined up for the top 10 shoot out of the Super Pole, rain started to set in on parts of the track and water on track caused several trucks to spin and go off track in turn 13, which caused the session to be red-flagged.

When the session resumed, the drivers faced tricky conditions with half the track dry, and the other half wet. Kiss managed to navigate through the adverse conditions and qualified in the top spot for race 1. Jochen Hahn posted the second fastest time and will line up alongside the Hungarian on the front row, with Sasacha Lenz in third.

“I’ve been racing for 15 years but I have never raced on a circuit with such a big contrast," said Kiss. "It was so wet in the middle sector, I was on the grass before it got red-flagged. When it resumed it was a bit better, but on the other side of the track it was completely dry. I’m happy that we could do this and post the fastest time in such difficult conditions.”
