KISS AND ALVAREZ TAKE VICTORIES AT THE NÜRBURGRING

7 February 2021

Norbert Kiss took a lights to flag win in race 1 while Manuel Alvarez secured the victory in a turbulent second race

RACE 1

After the first start got red-flagged, race 1  got underway and Norbert Kiss tried to get away from the field. Lukas Hahn didn’t let the Hungarian pull away and the pair opened up a gap to Manuel Alvarez in third. With the lead never really in danger, Kiss drove home the win ahead of Hahn and Alvarez.

Behind them a fierce battle for fourth developed with Sascha Lenz defending position from Josy Vila. The Spaniard stayed on the back of Lenz trying to get past the German. Lenz managed to stay ahed of Vila though and finished the race in fourth.

Jonathan André caught up with Téo Calvet in sixth and they battled for position for several laps. The pair made contact, Calvet spun off the track and dropped back. André had to back out of the move which opened the door for Björn Tijhuis to get through. He later had to give back the position to André and the Lion Truck Racing driver finished sixth.

RACE 2

Téo Calvet who finished eighth in the first race started race 2 on pole ahead of Jonathan André. After a red flag the race started, however there was trouble for the pole sitter as he got off track and dropped back into 14th followed by a big reshuffle in the field as more drivers struggled and lost positions.

Manuel Alvarez emerged in the race lead ahead of Jonathan Andre and Lukas Hahn. Hahn overtook André and kept up with the Spaniard, who controlled the race and drove home his first win in the ETRC Digital Racing Challenge.

Sascha Lenz in fourth was trying to keep Kiss behind him but the Hungarian eventually got past the German and started to hunt down the top group. He overtook Andre and went on to Lukas Hahn, gradually closing the gap. Kiss put in the fastest laps but in the end Hahn kept the upper hand and drove home second place.
