New app will enable fans to place a 3D race truck anywhere in their house or outside and race it around a small race track in their own home
When real life racing was put on hold at the beginning of the year, the European Truck Racing Association (ETRA) set up a digital strategy to bring truck racing into everyone’s home. An official FIA ETRC video game was already available for fans who wanted to try their hands on virtual truck racing.
The ETRC truck racing drivers have been competing against each other in the ETRC Digital Racing Challenge over the past few months, with an average of 129,000 fans watching the virtual truck racing action.
With the new augmented reality app, fans will be able to relive the season at home, get their own ETRC racing truck and race it around their living room or garden.
Using the latest AR technology, iOS and android users can download the race trucks of their choice and park it anywhere they like.
The new app is a little preview of what the ETRC has in store for fans over the winter break, to bring them closer to the action and to the truck racing pros.
“We are always looking for innovative ways to help fans get closer to truck racing and with the new AR app we found another way to bring truck racing into the homes of our fans,” said Georg Fuchs, managing director at ETRA.
“We have more exciting news for the fans in the pipeline this week, so keep an eye out on our channels!”
