After qualifying on pole, local hero Norbert Kiss took both victories on his ‘home’ circuit in the opening round of the ETRC Digital Racing Challenge
Norbert Kiss stormed to victory in race one at the Hungaroring after a dominant display in his new Revesz TRT truck.
Kiss who comes with a wealth of sim racing experience, got a good start and pulled away from the field. The Hungarian drove a solid race at the front, his lead never in danger, and when he took the chequered flag, he was a solid seven seconds clear of Sascha Lenz in second. Frenchman Anthony Janiec completed the podium in third.
New Buggyra racing team recruit Téo Calvet battled with former ETRC champion Antonio Albacete for several laps. The Frenchman eventually found a gap and overtook the Spanish driver to finish race 1 in fourth.
Adam Lacko had a difficult first race, ending up in the wall in the first lap, but managed to salvage himself and finished the race in sixth.
For race 2 the drivers started in reverse grid, with 16-year old Buggyra racer Aliyyah Koloc starting in pole. Jose-Eduardo Rodrigues who started in second, got off the line well and overtook Koloc, however him and Antonio Albacete ran wide into the first corner and lost grounds.
Sascha Lenz who started from seventh managed to stay out of trouble after the start and moved into third, however a few corners on he got it wrong and spun off the road. The German had a great recovery drive though, working his way through the field. In the last two laps he made short work of Antonio Albacete to move into fourth and on the last lap, managed to get past Calvet and Rodrigues who were fighting for third. Lenz was handed a 2-second penalty after the race, which put him behind Teo Calvet into third in the final rankings
Young gun Calvet led the race after overtaking his Czech team-mate Adam Lacko, who later had to retire from the race.
Local hero Kiss hunted down the field from eighth on the grid and by the start of the second lap, he had already moved into fifth position. He worked his way up the ranks and after a great battle with young driver Calvet, he took the lead to drive home his second win of the day.
