The virtual truck racing season will get underway at the Hungaroring this weekend with a 12-driver strong line up
Three previous ETRC champions will line up on Sunday for their digital racing debut: Antonio Albacete who will race for the newly formed T Sport Bernau, Adam Lacko (Buggyra Racing) and Norbert Kiss with the new Révész TRT team, who will all be eager to take their real life skills onto the virtual track.
Don’t Touch Racing driver André Kursim, who won a race at the Hungaroring last year, will be looking to replicate his success on the simulator.
Sascha Lenz will be lining up in his brand-new, vibrant green MAN. The German too finished on the top step in Hungary in 2019 and will be sure to use his experience to bag a top result in the ETRC digital racing challenge opener.
With his distinctive yellow MAN truck, Frenchman Anthony Janiec and his Lyon based Lion Truck Racing team are taking on the challenge in Hungary as well as British driver Jamie Anderson and Dutch EK Truck Sport driver Erwin Klein Nagelvoort.
After making his FIA ETRC debut at the Nürburgring last year, German racer Clemens Hecker will compete in the virtual race along with Portuguese racer José Eduardo Rodrigues, who will sport the familiar navy blue colours of Reboconort in his number 38 truck.
Having had two very promising outings at the Nürburgring in 2018 and 2019, where he scored impressive podium finishes, 19-year-old Frenchman Téo Calvet will take on the digital racing challenge with the Buggyra Racing Team.
Lining up alongside him on the grid will be 15-year old Buggyra racer Aliyyah Koloc. Besides testing the team’s Freightliner on numerous occasions, Aliyyah has also tested a Mercedes GT3 car before and also races in the virtual Buggyra Zero Mileage GT Cup.
The truck racing drivers will compete against each other on a simulator of their choice on the “Assetto Corsa” gaming platform, and whilst they all have the same coding structure, the drivers can make some individual modifications.
Rules and regulation are based on the real FIA ETRC and the virtual races will be monitored and supervised by an official clerk of the course, race control and officials allholding a DMSB license.
Racing coverage starts on Sunday, 24 May from 17:30 CET.
