Adam Lacko took his third win of 2019 in race three at Jarama....
Adam Lacko claimed his third win of the 2019 FIA European Truck Racing Championship in race three at Circuito Jarama this afternoon.
The Buggyra Racing driver avenged the disappointment of losing the race two win yesterday which he had to relinquish after being penalised for early race contact with Rene Reinert.
Lacko led from pole position throughout the 12-lap race even though Jochen Hahn applied huge pressure throughout.
The Czech though was able to absorb the pressure and crossed the finishing line just 0.3s ahead of his rival Hahn.
Antonio Albacete sealed the final rung of the podium in his Truck Sport Lutz Bernau MAN as he came from fifth on the grid to overtake Norbert Kiss and Sascha Lenz.
The Spaniard capitalised after some contact between Kiss and Lenz at the start of the race but was able to ease his way passed his teams’ championship partner Lenz.
Albacete caught up to the battle for the lead between Lacko and Hahn in the final laps but had to settle for third but was cheered loudly by his thousands of fans in the busy spectator banks.
The crowd favourite though saw his points advantage over Lacko for second in the standings cut to just six points.
With Kiss taking fifth in his Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz, Steffi Halm came home a rather lonely sixth in her Team Schwabentruck IVECO.
There was plenty of fender-to-fender action at the start with multiple contacts throughout the field. Andre Kursim bore the brunt of the incidents as he took a long and lurid ride through the gravel and lost several positions. The Young Gun eventually came home in 10th behind Rene Reinert and Jose Rodrigues.
But Rodrigues was dealt a penalty which was applied after the race which dropped him down the order to 14th position overall.
The GRAMMER TRUCK CUP saw Fabio Citignola claim his second ever category victory after his best ever drive.
The young German driver, in his Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz put behind him a troubled Saturday to dominate the category and take an excellent seventh overall and victory in the GRAMMER CUP TRUCK.
Erwin Kleinnagelvoort had a meteoric start to the race coming from the rear of the field to place second in the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP and an astonishing ninth overall.
However, the Scania driver was forced to pit just three laps from the of the race with an unspecified problem.
This promoted Terry Gibbon and Jamie Anderson to second and third position respectively.
Luis Recuenco took fourth ahead Jose-Eduardo Rodrigues, while the bitterly disappointed Kleinnagelvoort came home sixth in class and Dominique Orsini was the final classified finisher in his Mercedes-Benz.
Oly Janes suffered a rare retirement in his Buggyra Racing Freightliner as he pulled off on the main straight on lap 7. Previously there had been contact between Janes and Jamie Anderson but it was unclear if this was the reason for his stoppage.
Anthony Janiec pitted midway through the race with a technical issue on his Lion Truck MAN and he never returned to action.
The final race of the 2019 FIA ETRC season will take place at 14.50 local time this afternoon.
