Konrad Hahn, driving force of Hahn Racing, has passed away at the age of 71
Konrad Hahn, the founding father of the Hahn Racing dynasty died this week at the age of 71.
The German founded the Hahn Racing company in 1998 after he and his brother Jörg has raced together in the 1996 and 1997.
Konrad, or ‘Conni’ as he was affectionately known scored several podium positions in 1999 but also suffered a severe accident and retired from active competition.
Instead, full focus was given to his talented son Jochen Hahn, who made his FIA debut in 2000 and made an instant impact scoring wins and podiums to earn the ‘Rookie of the Year’ title.
Through the next decade Hahn races Mercedes-Benz and MAN trucks before taking his first title in 2011. He followed that up with a further success in 2012 and 2013 scoring a unique hat-trick of wins.
Team Hahn Racing grew and for the 2017 season developed a close relationship with IVECO with which Jochen won back-to-back titles in 2018 and this season.
All the time, Conni was the patriarch of the team and supported its growth and success throughout, and was the driving force of the family team which had the vital input of his daughter-in-law, Diana Hahn
Last weekend at Le Mans Bugatti, Conni witnessed his son take an historic sixth FIA ETRC title and few will forget his emotional response to his son’s incredible achievement.
Conni Hahn leaves a remarkable legacy of commitment, success and humanity that everyone in the paddock will miss.
The FIA ETRC and its organisers and promoters, the ETRA, would like to express its sadness and condolence to the whole Hahn Racing family at this difficult time.
