Jochen Hahn wins sixth title after sixth place finish at Le Mans...

Jochen Hahn clinched an unprecedented sixth FIA European Truck Racing Championship title at Le Mans Bugatti after taking sixth position in race two this afternoon.

This was good enough for the German to re-write the record books to become the FIA ETRC champion and add 2019 to his previous titles in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2018.

For Hahn it was a significant achievement and the new champion was ecstatic as he took the cheers of his team and the truck racing fraternity for a remarkable achievement.

Race two was won by Andre Kursim as the Don’t Touch Racing IVECO fended off a race long attack from Steffi Halm’s Team Schwabentruck IVECO and Adam Lacko’s Buggyra Racing Freightliner.

It was Kursim's second win of the season after an early season success at Hungaroring.

The original start of the race was red flagged after a multiple collision halfway around the first lap after Norbert Kiss was forced on to the grass after some contact with Rene Reinert.

The Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz driver lost control and collided with Reinert who in turn was pushed in to Luis Recuenco’s Trucksport Lutz Bernau MAN.

The resulting debris and fluid on the circuit ensured the red flag was flown and the race re-started as per grid order. All three drivers involved in the incident were not able to take the re-start after suffering significant damage in the incident. Reinert was subsequently given a five place grid penalty for triggering the incident.

Pole sitter Rodrigues made a bold start and led away but his time at the front was short lived after an excursion saw him fall back down to ninth position.

This allowed Kursim in to the lead from where the young German stoutly defended against Steffi Halm’s Team Schwabentruck IVECO.

Halm put enormous pressure on Kursim throughout the 11-lap race as a train of three trucks comprising of Kursim, Halm and third placed Adam Lacko fought for the win.

Despite a last corner attempt to wrest the lead from Kursim, Halm was forced to duck back in to the slipstream of the fellow IVECO driver and cross the line just 1.2 seconds behind at the chequered flag.

Meanwhile, Hahn sat behind Antonio Albacete knowing that just following the Spaniard home would seal him the title.

With Shane Brereton’s TOR Truck MAN in fourth place and Albacete unable to make a move on the British driver, Hahn’s title was sealed.

But the German was joined by race one runner-up Sascha Lenz’s SL Trucksport30 entry to make it a four-way fight for fourth, but Hahn held on to claim his record sixth championship.

In the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP Jamie Anderson took a dominant win heading home Oly Janes to chip away further in to the title points gap.

Third in GRAMMER was Terry Gibbon’s T Sport entry to make it another all-British podium.

Erwin Kleinnagelvoort took fourth position ahead of young guns Fabio Citignola and Jose-Eduardo Rodrigues.

The teams' result saw Die Bullen von IVECO Magirus triumph from Lowen Power and the Buggyra 1969 team.
