14 September 2019

Check out the grid for the first race at Circuit Zolder this afternoon....

Jochen Hahn left it late to grab the tenth pole position of his 2019 FIA European Truck Racing Championship campaign at Circuit Zolder this morning.

Hahn flew to a best lap of 1m57.170s in his Hahn Racing IVECO to ensure that he had the right to lead the 18 truck field. This time was good enough for pole by a tiny margin of just 0.055s

Antonio Albacete had looked to have taken his second consecutive pole position but Hahn’s late flyer won out.

Triple FIA ETRC champion was aiming to reprise his 2018 pole with a lap of 1m57.225. The Spanish ace’s laps was just over 0.1s faster than last year’s best until Hahn clinched it.

Albacete’s first Super Pole run was just 0.067s quicker than Jochen Hahn as the two waged a tight battle through all three sectors on the Circuit Zolder track.

Starting from third on the grid for this afternoons race will be Buggyra Racing’s Adam Lacko who will share row two of the grid with Andre Kursim’s Don’t Touch Racing IVECO.

Kursim continued his excellent for at the Belgian track which was the scene of his debut victory back in 2017.

Sascha Lenz starts fifth in his SL Trucksport30 MAN ahead of Norbert Kiss’ Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz.

Steffi Halm posted a best time of 1m58.251s in her Team Schwabentruck IVECO on her second run to go seventh. Her time was just over 0.1s faster than Jose Rodrigues’ best.

The final two places in Super Pole were rounded out by Rene Reinert in his Reinert Racing IVECO and Luis Recuenco who starts 10thand the first of the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP runners.

Albacete Heads Timed Practice Session

Antonio Albacete led the way in the 10-minute timed practice session which made up the top ten to go through in to qualifying.

The Trucksport Lutz Bernau MAN driver peaked on a 1m58.033s lap to head second placed Sascha Lenz’s SL Trucskport30 MAN challenger.

Third fastest was Rene Reinert, while Norbert Kiss took fourth ahead of Adam Lacko and Jochen Hahn.

Steffi Halm placed seventh ahead of 2018 Zolder winner Jose Rodrigues.

Andre Kursim left it late but with seconds to spare he made it in to the Super Pole session with ninth fastest time in his Don’t Stop Racing IVECO. He has earlier seen his first lap times cancelled for overspeeding. Jamie Anderson also fell foul of the same sanction on his quick lap.

Luis Recuenco was the final driver to make it through to Super Pole and the Spaniard also led the way in the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP runners.

This pushed out the unlucky Terry Gibbon who will start 11thoverall and second in the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP category.
