Voices of Nürburgring - Saturday

21 July 2019

Here's what the top drivers from Saturday's races had to say after the action at Nürburgring...

Race 1

1. Jochen Hahn – Team Hahn Racing | IVECO

“It’s absolutely amazing to win here in Germany, it’s my home race and there’s plenty of fans here. Antonio [Albacete] was close behind throughout the race. I had it under control but both myself and Antonio were on the limit.”

2. Antonio Albacete – Truck Sport Lutz Bernau | MAN

“I was trying to push, looking for a mistake from Jochen but we had pretty much the same pace and I was never really in a position to fight with him.  It was really, really difficult. I think was quite a good race for both of us.”

3. Norbert Kiss – Team Tankpool24 Racing | Mercedes-Benz

“I was really happy I could make it work and overtake Sascha [Lenz] for a podium position. Later on he was very, very close so I concentrated on not making any mistakes because I thought that if I make mistakes, then he will be there to attack. So that was what I did and four or five laps from the end he fell back a little bit and from then on it was that little bit easier for me.”

Race 2

1. Adam Lacko – Buggyra Racing | Freightliner

“It feels very special to have my first victory of the season here at the Nurburgring, the biggest truck racing meeting of the season. I had a good start but I was behind Rodrigues and Janiec. Rodrigues cut a corner, went through the grass and I managed to go through to the front. I had to be careful to avoid the truck of Janiec. Later I had my own race and was focused on maintaining the gap.”

2. Sascha Lenz – SL Trucksport30 | MAN

“I’m so happy. It’s the first one that I’m standing on the podium here at the Nurburgring. Had some good fights and I think it was a very good race both for us as well as for the people who came to watch. Gerd [Korber] is a very clever racer and he kept closing the doors all the time. In the very last moment, I thought ‘sorry, Gerd’ but a podium finish is waiting for me. I pushed a little harder and I went through, then Jose Rodrigues was too slow and I managed to pass him as well.”

3. Jochen Hahn – Team Hahn Racing | IVECO

“Normally, in the reversed grid races, I settle for points, but here, at my home round of the FIA ETRC, I pushed extra hard because podium here is very important for everyone – the fans, the sponsors, the team and myself. I’m very happy with how the day went.”
