Sascha Lenz headed home Steffi Halm and Adam Lacko in the second race of the day at Slovakiaring....
Sascha Lenz claimed his second victory of the season and the third of his FIA ETRC career after another incident filled race at Slovakiaring today.
Lenz, driving his SL Trucksport 30 MAN, made an excellent start from fifth on the grid and immediately slotted into second place, behind polesitter Rene Reinert.
Reinert however made a mistake under braking into Turn 3 on the second lap which allowed Lenz to dive to the inside and take the lead.
Shortly after the Reinert Racing driver had a coming together with Steffi Halm’s Team Schwabentruck IVECO. This dropped Reinert down the order and eventually led to his retirement from the race due to a puncture and damage.
Halm went on to claim her second runners-up finish of the day, one place ahead of Buggyra Racing’s Adam Lacko who also copied his race one result of third place.
Lacko battled Tankpool24 Racing driver Norbert Kiss in the second part of the race and eventually went around the outside of the black Mercedes-Benz truck, pushing the Hungarian down to P4 on the final lap.
Jochen Hahn, starting from eighth, stayed out of trouble to finish fifth aboard his second Team Hahn Racing IVECO and to collect more valuable points in his quest for a sixth FIA ETRC title.
Andre Kursim in his Don’t Touch Racing IVECO was another driver who made up several places in the race, finishing seventh, having started 14th and last.
Eighth went to Antonio Albacete who was also working his way up the order following Race 1 problems. The Spaniard fought gamely but also suffered some contact on his way to his first points of the weekend.
Anderson Goes Top Gear from Rear for GRAMMER Glory
Jamie Anderson took the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP hounours after a brilliant drive from the rear of the field. The British racer started down in 13th place following his enforced Race 1 retirement but quickly clawed his way back to finish an excellent sixth overall and claim the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP silverware.
Fabio Citignola scored more overall points, bringing his Team Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes home in ninth in the classification and second in the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP category.
The top 10 was rounded out by Luis Recenco, who was also second in the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP but was delayed after earlier contact from Adam Lacko which saw him run through the gravel and lose half a minute of time.
Recuenco was initially running third, applying pressure to second-placed Lenz and in contention for a podium finish.
Front-row starter Oly Janes had a poor getaway when the lights turned green and dropped down the pack immediately. He eventually finished 12th overall as the last runner after picking up a slow puncture on the first lap.
Reinert wasn't the only retirement as Dominique Orsini stopped his Mercedes-Benz despite valiant efforts from his small team to rectify an issue which has persisted since the Hungaroring rounds last month.
