Hahn Takes Second Pole of 2019

22 June 2019

Jochen Hahn was on the pace at Hungaroring taking a dominant pole.....

Jochen Hahn dominated proceedings at Hungaroring today to claim a comfortable pole position in his IVECO truck.

The Team Hahn Racing driver was also fastest in both Free Practice sessions as well as the Timed Practice at Hungaroring today.

The reigning FIA ETRC champion then dominated the all-important Super Pole session, setting a time of 2:19.047, a huge 0.96s better than second-placed Antonio Albacete in his Truck Sport Lutz Bernau MAN entry.

The second row of the grid will be shared by Don’t Touch Racing's André Kursim and Buggyra Racing driver Adam Lacko.

Steffi Halm, who was Hahn’s closest rival in the Timed Practice, set a time that was only good enough for fifth overall in her Team Schwabentruck IVECO, and she will share third row of the grid with José Rodrigues.

Jamie Anderson qualified an excellent seventh overall and best among the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP runners. The Anderson Racing driver outqualified several more experienced drivers, including seventh Sascha Lenz in his SL Trucksport 30 MAN, and local ace Norbert Kiss, who will line up a lowly ninth in his Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz truck.

Luis Recenco had a lap time cancelled due to breaching track limits, and the second of the Truck Sport Lutz Bernau MAN challengers will round out the top 10.

An incident between Kiss and Kursim which occurred during the session was a subject of an investigation by the stewards but no further action was taken.

Hahn tops Timed Practice, Halm and Lenz close behind

Hahn was in a class of his own in the earlier timed practice session. Halm took the second-best time, only 0.18s off Hahn’s benchmark.

Sascha Lenz went fourth-fastest, just 0.001s off Halm's second-best time. The SL Trucksport 30 racer was followed by Albacete, Kursim and José Rodrigues.

Kiss was only seventh-fastest, but still better than another front-runner, Lacko in his new spec Buggyra Racing Freightliner.

Anderson went fastest in the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP, taking ninth overall, one place ahead of Recuenco.

René Reinert was a surprise non-qualifier for the Super Pole, ending up 11th overall in his Renert Racing IVECO.

Terry Gibbon, making his first appearance of the season in his T-Sport MAN, now upgraded with a new common rail engine qualified 12th and a solid third in the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP.

Oly Janes in the second of the Freightliners qualified 13th, followed by Tankpool24 Racing's Fabio Citignola, Reboconorte Eduardo Rodrigues and Dominque Orsini in his self run Mercedes-Benz.
