Team Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz driver Norbert Kiss topped Super Pole session held at damp Misano circuit to claim his first pole position since 2017.
Known for his formidable pace in the wet, Adam Lacko, was universally considered a qualifying favourite once the rain arrived, but it was Kiss who got the better of the Buggyra Racing racer, lapping 1.1s faster.
Saturday’s pole sitter Jochen Hahn will line up directly behind Kiss, placing his Team Hahn Racing IVECO third on the grid. Hahn will have Anthony Janiec for company on row two of the grid. The Frenchman once again proved that his Lion Truck Racing MAN package is a force to be reckoned with in the wet conditions.
The third row of the grid will be shared by SL Trucksport 30's Sascha Lenz and Truck Sport Lutz Bernau's Antonio Albacete qualifying fifth and sixth respectively to make it an all MAN third row.
Seventh went to Steffi Halm and her Team Schwabentruck IVECO and eighth to José Rodrigues in his Reboconort MAN.
The top-ten was rounded out by the German pair driving IVECO's, yesterday's race two winner René Reinert and Don't Touch Racing's André Kursim
Kiss Also Tops Timed Practice
Kiss who topped the Timed Practice Session held directly before the Super Pole which made up the top ten. This time Adam Lacko was just under a second off the Hungarian’s time.
On this occasion, it was Janiec who completed the top three with the following top 10 places going to Lenz, Hahn, Halm, Albacete, Reinert (lap time cancelled for not respecting track limits at Turn 8), José Rodrigues and Kursim.
Oly Janes finished just outside of the top 10 but was fastest among the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP competitors. Second in the category went to Thomas Robineau and a best-ever third went to rookie racer Fabio Citignola in his Team Tankpool24 Mercedes-Benz.
Jamie Anderson sorted out his power steering issues from yesterday and qualified fourth in GRAMMER TRUCK CUP and 14th overall, one place ahead of Jose é Eduardo Rodrigues followed by yesterday’s double category winner Luis Recuenco.
The 17th and final grid slot went to Dominique Orsini who had a lap time cancelled for breaching track limits in Turn 6 in his family-run Mercedes-Benz challenger.
