Just like last year, Jochen Hahn driving the Team Hahn Racing IVECO truck started his FIA European Truck Racing Championship campaign with a victory at a warm and dry Misano this afternoon.
Hahn triumphed in a dominant, lights to flag fashion, in identically fashion to the corresponding race in 2018. The podium was rounded out by Adam Lacko and Antonio Albacete, driving for Buggyra Racing and Truck Sport Lutz Bernau respectively.
Norbert Kiss claimed fourth place for Team Tankpool24 Racing, finishing ahead of Team Schawabentruck’s IVECO driven by Steffi Halm.
Sascha Lenz (SL Trucksport/MAN), managed to carry on despite damaged sustained in a first-lap contact. He not only managed to finish but also gained a place from his starting position, crossing the line sixth.
Seventh went to Rene Reinert in his new for 2019 IVECO truck, who, together with Thomas Robineau, was under investigation for first-lap contact but no further action was taken by the stewards.
Recuenco Scores Maiden GRAMMER TRUCK CUP Win
Luis Recuenco in the second of the Truck Sport Lutz Bernau MANs finished eighth overall and top GRAMMER TRUCK CUP runner.
Lacko’s team-mate at Buggyra Racing, Oly Janes claimed ninth and second in the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP, while Thomas Robineau completed the podium from the chrome-categorised drivers also rounding out the top 10 overall.
Andre Kursim, who qualified eighth, just missed out on points as a result of a drive-through penalty for not respecting track-limits, finishing 11th in his Don’t Touch Racing IVECO.
Jose Eduardo Rodrigues, Jamie Anderson (who also serving a drive-through) and Dominique Orsini were classified 12th, 13th.and 14th respectively.
Jose Rodrigues was the leading Reboconort entered truck for the majority of the running but two drive-through penalties pushed him down the order to an eventual 15th.
Fabio Citignola had a difficult truck racing debut and ended up being classified 16th overall, three laps down on the leaders after several pit-stops.
Anthony Janiec headed for the pits and retired his Lion Truck Racing MAN at the end of the first lap after suffering a steering problem.
In the teams' championship honours went to Die Bullen von IVECO Magirus (Hahn, Halm) with Buggyra Racing (Lacko, Janes) in second and the new Lowen Pöwer (Albacete/Lenz) partnership in third.
