Jochen Hahn claims first pole position of 2019 season at Misano......
Reigning champion Jochen Hahn beat last-year’s runner-up Adam Lacko by just under 0.5s at Misano this afternoon. Lacko, the Buggyra Racing driver was building the speed up from session to session, finishing fourth in FP1, third in FP2 to finally secure a front row place alongside Hahn.
The second row of the grid will be shared by Truck Sport Lutz Bernau’s Antonio Albacete and Norbert Kiss driving a Team Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz truck.
Steffi Halm in her Team Schawabentruck IVECO will have Anthony Janiec’s Lion Truck Racing MAN for company on row three of the grid.
Last year’s Race 2 winner Sascha Lenz qualified seventh. The SL Trucksport driver was struggling for pace in the early morning practice sessions but seemed to have found more pace in the Time Practice held directly before.
Lenz with be joined by Andre Kursim (Don’t Touch Racing/IVECO) on fourth row of the grid, with Rene Reinert, who swapped his MAN for IVECO ahead of the season and GRAMMER TRUCK CUP pole sitter Luis Recuenco completing the top 10.
Timed practice
Hahn also topped the timed practice held directly before the Super Pole session to chose the top ten that would progress.
This time it was Lenz who came second best to Hahn, but was over 0.7s shy of the reigning champion’s time. Kursim completed the top three, with a solid fourth coming to late entrant Janiec about his Lion Truck Racing MAN, this year sporting a more fulurestent shade of yellow.
Reinert went sixth-fastest, just ahead of Albacete, who was Hahn’s closest competitor during both practice sessions held in the morning.
Front-runners Kiss and Lacko, were only eighth and ninth respectively, with the top 10 being rounded out by Luis Recuenco, who made it in to Super Pole despite having his lap time cancelled.
Frenchman Thomas Robineau in his family-run MAN was the first of those who missed out on the Super Pole session, being classified 11th overall and second in the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP category.
12th went to Jose Rodrigues who was another driver to have his lap time cancelled for touching the corner markers.
The following places from 13th to 16th went to Oly Janes, Fabio Citignola, Jose-Eduardo Rodrigues and Dominique Orsini.
Jamie Anderson failed to record a time after stopping his truck on the outside of Turn 12 with an apparant mechanical issue.
