Adam Lacko took pole position for race three in wet conditions at the Red Bull Ring this morning by setting a best time of 1m21.360s in his Buggyra International Racing System entered 'Fat Fox' truck.
The Czech driver showed his wet weather skills and was a huge 2.343s ahead of his rivals as he exploited the slightly less wet track conditions in the early stage of the ten minute session.
Jochen Hahn will start alongside Lacko on the front row after claiming a best tour of 1m23.703s. Third was Gerd Korber (Team Schwabentruck IVECO), who was just 0.090s behind Hahn. Yesterday’s race two winner Rene Reinert starts in fourth position for this afternoon's race.
Completing the top five was Anthony Janiec in his Lion Truck Racing MAN. The Frenchman was just ahead of FIA ETRC debutant Jiri Forman (Buggyra 'Fat Fox') who came in a creditable sixth after limited wet weather running in pre-season testing.
Ryan Smith, who will be aiming for better luck after a day of misfortune yesterday, qualified in seventh, just ahead of Norbert Kiss’ Tankpool24 Racing run Mercedes-Benz.
In ninth position was Sascha Lenz, who suffered a lock-up in to Turn 2 and lost time re-joining the track in his self-run MAN.
The session also saw Frankie Vojtisek spin his truck at the exit of Turn 3 before the Czech veteran had completed a time. Therefore he will start in 10th position on the starting grid.
Lacko heads Timed Practice (Q2)......
In the timed practice which set the top ten of the Super Pole Adam Lacko was quickest as he set his time of 1m18.563s in the early part of the session.
Second was early championship points leader Jochen Hahn who was 0.653s behind the Czech racer, with Norbert Kiss third with his Tankpool 24 Racing Mercedes-Benz entry. Jiri Forman showed good wet weather skill in the second Buggyra International Racing System Fat Fox to place fourth.
However, there was trouble for Kiss as he spun off at Turn 4 bringing out a red flag as his truck was deemed to be in a dangerous position. The session was re-started and saw a shoot-out in itself where several drivers sliding around the track striving to, make it in to the top ten.
Missing out on the top ten was Thomas Robineau, race one and two podium finisher Markus Altenstrasser, Ellen Lohr and Eduardo Rodrigues.
