Hahn Takes Pole for Race 3 at Zolder

16 September 2018

Jochen Hahn will start from pole position for today's third Zolder race....

Jochen Hahn claimed his fifth pole position of the 2018 FIA European Truck Racing Championship season at Circuit Zolder this morning.

The four-times champion set a best lap of 1m57.370s to be 0.2s clear of yesterday’s race one winner Antonio Albacete.

Hahn is aiming to take his first win at Zolder since 2016 later today and to also maintain his record of winning at least one race in each of the five events held so far this season.

Albacete headed Sascha Lenz who starts third after a committed lap in his SL Trucksport MAN. Lenz set the fastest sector two time in the session but was unable to follow that up in the first and third sectors of the lap.

Adam Lacko starts fourth in his Buggyra International Racing System Freightliner ahead of Norbert Kiss and Andre Kursim.

Heading the fourth row of the grid will be Steffi Halm’s Team Schwabentruck IVECO who had her best laptime cancelled for hitting a penalty marker. Yesterday’s race two winner shares the row with former teammate Rene Reinert.

Jose Rodrigues (Reboconort MAN) went one better than his starting position from yesterday with ninth just ahead of Oly Janes who was the leading GRAMMER TRUCK CUP runner.

Kiss Fastest in Timed Practice

Norbert Kiss set the pace in the Timed Practice session prior to Super Pole by setting a 1m58.322s lap.

Kiss’ time was just 0.060s faster than Jochen Hahn’s best in his Hahn Racing IVECO.

Rene Reinert placed third ahead of Adam Lacko, Sascha Lenz and Antonio Albacete.

Andre Kursim claimed seventh best time ahead of Steffi Halm who is still trying to find some elusive pace for Team Schwabentruck.

Jose Rodrigues put in a late time to take ninth. The Portuguese ironically knocked out his own son out of Super Pole as Jose-Eduardo Rodrigues ultimately got shuffled back to 12th.

Oly Janes also put in a last gasp time to book his slot in Super Pole with a time just 0.2s clear of Steffen Faas who just missed out in 11th.

GRAMMER TRUCK CUP points leader Shane Brereton had a troubled session and placed 17thand last to ensure he will have to put in one of his famed ‘top gear from the rear’ performances this afternoon.
