Adam Lacko takes another win after a sensational finish at Autodrom Most...
Adam Lacko pulled off the greatest victory of his FIA ETRC career in the second race at Most today to seal a double success in front of his adoring home crowd.
The Buggyra International Racing System driver took a sensational win at the final corner after coming from eighth to first. His drive sent the large partisan crowd in to delirium and to take one of the most memorable wins in recent FIA ETRC history.
Lacko’s race winning move was completed just metres before the chequered flag as he powered out of the final turn in the wet conditions to overtake Rene Reinert and win by just 0.168 seconds. His audacious pass was met with roars of delight from the packed Most grandstands.
Reinert had converted pole position to open an immediate lead and resisted massive pressure from first Norbert Kiss and then Lacko in the final few laps as the finish headed for a thrilling climax.
However, the German could not quite hang on and watched in both horror and wonder as Lacko pulled off his heroic move at the last turn.
The win further reduced Jochen Hahn’s title lead to 44-points as the German finished a lowly sixth.
Earlier in the race Norbert Kiss, who finished third, towed up to the back of leader Reinert after clearing Steffi Halm after biding his time to make a move on the Team Schwabentruck IVECO driver.
Kiss though was powerless to resist the charging Lacko who cemented his reputation as a wet weather master by then attacking Reinert to pull off what appeared earlier in the race to be an unlikely win.
The race witnessed more than its fair share of controversy as Antonio Albacete and Jochen Hahn clashed on lap three pitching the German off the track and through the gravel.
A lap later and Albacete too was off the track at the first chicane losing several positions as he re-joined the track in his Truck Sport Lutz Bernau MAN. The Spaniard eventually pitted and retired his truck with a suspected suspension problem.
While Halm finished a lonely fourth, Andre Kursim netted fifth after getting swallowed up by the chasing pack in the opening stages.
However, the Don’t Touch Racing IVECO driver fought back valiantly to ward off the advances of Sascha Lenz’s SL Trucksort MAN and then the recovering Hahn who grabbed sixth from Lenz in the final stages.
Jose Rodrigues went one better than race one to be classified eighth in his Reboconort MAN.
Janes Double GRAMMER success
The GRAMMER TRUCK CUP witnessed a double triumph for Buggyra International Racing System driver Oly Janes.
The British ace bossed the race in his Freightliner to head home Steffen Faas (Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz) and Frankie Vojtisek in his familiar white Czech Truck Racing Team MAN.
For Janes it was a welcome change in fortune as he completed his most impressive performances since he joined the FIA ETRC earlier this year.
Shane Brereton returned to the fray with a new engine to claim fifth position just behind Jamie Anderson who again lost out despite initially running in second position. The British rookie fell back after a lurid moment in his Anderson Racing MAN.
The final three runners in sixth, seventh and eighth positions were Erwin Kleinnagelvoort (EK Race Scania), Luis Recueno (Trucksport Lutz Bernau MAN) and Jose-Eduardo Rodrigues (Reboconort MAN).
The final two races of the Most weekend are scheduled to begin at 13.35 and 16.45 local time tomorrow afternoon.
The teams result saw Team Reinert Adventures (Reinert and Lenz) head home Buggyra 1969 duo Lacko and Janes and Die Bullen von IVECO Magirus duo Steffi Halm and Jochen Hahn.
