Here's what the top drivers of Saturday's races had to say when the dust settled down.
Race 1
Antonio Albacete – Truck Sport Lutz Bernau | MAN
"It was a great race. I knew that Jochen [Hahn] was very, very fast, because he did a very good time in Practice, but I also knew that if I’m going to lead into the first corner, I should be able to hold Jochen behind. I was very happy to see the chequered flag because Jochen was pushing me quite hard in the first part of the race. Then, I opened up a little bit of a gap and was able to race without much pressure in the closing stages of the race."
Jochen Hahn – Team Hahn Racing | IVECO
"I’m very happy with second place. Why? Because yesterday we lost a little bit during the Super Pole session and I had to accept that I’m not on pole position. He [Antonio Albacete] made no mistakes. For the first ten laps I could go a lot faster than him, but there was nowhere to overtake and that’s it. I’m very happy to race in Germany."
Norbert Kiss – Team Tankpool24 Racing | Mercedes-Benz
"I think it was the maximum I could do today. I had a lot of laps to catch up with Antonio and Jochen but it turned out to be impossible, so yeah, I think third position was the maximum. I’m really happy with it because I started fourth, on the outside of Rene [Reinert] and I could hold on to the outside going around Turn 1 and had a very good exit. Then, going into Turn 2 I was already ahead. I’m very happy because it’s not easy to overtake and get a podium position here at the Nürburgring. Thanks to the team for the hard work."
Race 3
Steffi Halm – Team Shwabentruck | IVECO
"It was a perfect race for Team Schwabentruck and IVECO! I had a good start and Andre [Kursim] missed the start and I was able to overtake him there. From then it was perfect – Gerd [Körber] in front, and myself behind – we had a little gap. I tried to push because I saw Adam [Lacko] coming. I didn’t want to attack Gerd, so I went on the radio and we made the change. We did it, 1-2 for Schwabentruck."
Gerd Körber – Team Shwabentruck | IVECO
"In 30 years of racing, I’ve never had a windscreen damaged like that. It happened by itself. The windshield cracked because of vibrations. The cracked glass wasn’t a problem, the sun was the problem! It was completely blinding me and it wasn’t easy to drive and remain focused but, in the end, I’m very happy that we scored top two podium places for Team Schwabentruck. Thank you, boys and girls!"
Adam Lacko – Buggyra International Racing System | Freightliner
"It was a very hard race. I had a good start and went [from fifth] to third, but after that, I was looking behind more than I was looking ahead of me, because Norbi [Kiss] was very fast and behind Norbi [Kiss] there was Jochen [Hahn]. It was also slippery, so I’m happy because it’s important to be on the podium here at the Nürburgring."
