The FIA European Truck Racing Championship is proud to announce a partnership today with Mercedes-Benz Trucks. The partnership will see the Actros truck become the official Pace Truck of the 2016 FIA ETRC.

With the Mercedes-Benz Actros the 2016 FIA ETRC enters a new era of competition. Its stunning design and development has been one of the most fascinating stories in the trucking industry in recent years.

The Mercedes-Benz Actros is a benchmark truck, particularly in comfort vehicle dynamics as well as economy and is equipped with a lot of assistance systems. Also the drive train is optimised thanks to: economical, efficient engines, shorter shifting times with Mercedes PowerShift 3, application-matched rear-axle ratios.

Commenting on the formalization of the partnership this season between the FIA ETRC and Mercedes-Benz Trucks, the Managing Director of Commercial and Marketing affairs at the European Truck Racing Association (ETRA), Georg Fuchs said: “We are very excited and honoured to be able to confirm this partnership today. The Mercedes-Benz Actros product is clearly a dynamic and industry leading vehicle. Fans and followers of the FIA ETRC will be able to see it close-up in the paddocks this season and also on the track. While one Mercedes-Benz Actros truck will be activated as the official Pace Truck, we will also have another in our new Fan Village area so the fans and followers of the championship can get a close appreciation of its engineering excellence.”

Michael Dietz, Head of Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Trucks added, “We are very proud to place the Mercedes-Benz Actros as Pace Truck for this year’s European Truck Racing series. Thanks to FIA ETRC for this great possibility and we are looking forward to very exciting and fascinating truck racing competitions.”

The 2016 FIA ETRC begins this weekend at Red Bull Ring, Spielberg. Four races will take place over the 30th April and 1st May as Europe’s elite truck racers go head to head in some of motorsport’s most spectacular racing vehicles.
