What the drivers said on Sunday at the Hungaroring

18 June 2018

Here's what the top drivers from Sunday's races at the Hungaroring had to say after the action...

Race 3

Jochen Hahn – Team Hahn Racing | IVECO

“It was a fairly easy race. I won the start and I could set the pace. I pushed for three or four laps and after that I had a little bit of a gap opened behind me. I cooled down a bit but I was still under pressure from Ryan [Smith]. Having said that, we have to do 150% in every race, we need to be on the limit."

Ryan Smith – OXXO Hungary Truck Racing Team | MAN

“This was a perfect start to the day. Jochen was really consistent and really fast, his pace was really good. I was trying to save the tyres in case later in the race I had to fight. We could go faster, but the problem is that the faster we go, the faster the tyres heat up. We’re going to be patient in Race 4, we won’t do anything crazy, we’ll try to move forward in the correct way.”

Adam Lacko – Buggyra Inernational Racing System | Freightliner

“I think it was a nice race. I thought I passed Ryan [at the start], but he took off faster exiting the corner and it wasn’t possible. After the gap between us was a little bit bigger, I tried to close down on him but there was no chance. It was a long night for my mechanics, they had a lot of work to do (we had damaged steering and a broken brake disc) and they did it very well, there was a lot of new things on the truck this morning.”

Race 4

Rene Reinert – Reinert Racing | MAN

“It’s a great feeling to win my first race in two years. A podium yesterday already felt great. The weekend was full of ups and downs, not everything went perfect and I wasn’t satisfied with qualifying. Yesterday I was ninth with a technical problem and today, in Race 3, I was eighth, I simply wasn’t fast enough. In this race I had good pace and the truck felt good, so I’m quite satisfied. We had a good fight with Sascha, we were close together all the time.”

Sascha Lenz – SL Trucksport | MAN

“This race was very good and I had a great start. However, I had a little bit of a problem with a rear axle on the first lap, but from lap two I could go with my normal speed. I think I did a good job and I’m very happy for the team. I thought that I could win the race but Rene is a good driver and has a nice truck. Now, with 1-2 finish, the situation is perfect in the team championship.”

Norbert Kiss – Team Tankpool24 Racing | Mercedes-Benz

“The first lap was a success because I managed to overtake two drivers. After, I had Adam Lacko behind so I had to focus on defending, so I couldn’t really fight the guys in front. In terms of the championship standings it was a good result. The only thing missing this weekend was a victory in one of the races but a big thanks to the fans here in Hungary, they are the best."
