What the drivers said on Sunday at Misano

28 May 2018

Here's what top drivers from both of Sunday's races had to say once the dust settled at Misano.

Race 3

Jochen Hahn – Hahn Racing | IVECO

“It feels very good, I love Misano. This winter we’ve built a new truck and it’s a step forward. I also had to change a bit my driving style, so looking from this side, I’m really, really happy. We worked hard and we got the wins now. Maybe from the outside, it looked easy but with that many starters, you need 50 points every weekend to be in contention for the championship.”

Steffi Halm – Team Schwabentruck | IVECO

“I’m really, really happy. I was happy to finish third in qualifying, it was really close with Norbi [Kiss] and Rene. At the start I knew that Jochen has the same truck so he will be beyond my reach but I was able to overtake Norbi. I opened a little gap and maintained it until the end, so it was perfect for us. It’s a new team and new truck, both chassis and the engine are a little different, so I had to change my style, work more with the throttle. I think it constantly gets better and better.”

Norbert Kiss – Team Tankpool24 Racing | Mercedes-Benz

“The start wasn’t too bad but it was quite obvious to me that Jochen was helping Steffi in the first two or three turns so that she could get a good position and I couldn’t defend. From then on I was only able to follow them. Also, the guys behind me were falling back a bit, so it was a bit of a lonely race, but it’s OK to be on the podium again.”

Race 4

Ryan Smith – OXXO Hungary Truck Racing Team | MAN

“[Yesterday] we had a crash and we had big damage. They guys worked till 5 am to fix it and we missed the free practice. The qualifying wasn’t so good, definitely not our normal pace. From the problems that we had at the beginning of the weekend, this is fantastic. I’m delighted and now we move forward to the Hungaroring.”

Sascha Lenz – SL Trucksport | MAN

“I had a very nice day and a very nice weekend and I would like to say thank you to all the people who gave me the chance to do this. I had a good start but my clutch was not completely closed so I got a push from Antonio [Albacete], but for four or five laps Ryan was very fast. Around the middle of the race, I started having problems with breaks and I had to nurse the truck home.”

Antonio Albacete – Truck Sport Lutz Bernau | MAN

“It’s good to have another podium, that’s fantastic. I wanted to fight Sascha but I was unable to so I settled for third. Overall it was a mixed weekend for me. Yesterday I had a little bit of bad luck, first 10-second penalty and then, in the second race, the crash. It’s a shame because I could have finished on pole in Race Two as well, but anyway, it’s racing, things like that happen. Now we just need to work a little bit harder and try to be closer [to the front] in the upcoming races.”
