The new Don't Touch Racing team is targeting a top six result in their debut season...
Sven Walter, the man behind the new for 2018 Don’t Touch Racing team, has revealed that top six in the final standings of the 2018 FIA European Truck Racing Championship will be the aim for his newly-established outfit.
“We have people within the team who have several years of experience in truck racing,” said Walter.
“So far I’m very happy with the team. At the end of the year I’ll be happy if we’re in the top six.”
Walter, who together with Michael Reddo and Joe Hermann has set the team up, will run an Iveco truck driven by last year’s Promoter’s Cup runner-up André Kursim.
“Iveco gave us the engine and Jochen Hahn provided the truck” explained Walter, who is not a newbie to truck racing, owing to his involvement with Team Hahn Racing via his company Sven Walter Logistics.
One thing that stands out in regard to the new team is its rather unusual name, however Walter refused to reveal the origins of the name. “It’s a secret,” said the German cryptically!
The team attended the recent Autodrom Most test in the Czech Republic where they conducted valuable mileage with Kursim.
Despite an accident on the first day of track running, the team efficiently fixed some damage to their Iveco truck and were soon on track again.
Kursim lapped confidently and made progress on the set-up of the new vehicle in readiness for the opening round of the 2018 FIA ETRC at Misano, Italy later this month.
The addition of Don’t Touch Racing to the grid boosted the number of full-season entries to 20, which makes it the biggest entry in over a decade.
