Steffen Faas will partner Norbi Kiss at Tankpool24 Racing for a full FIA ETRC campaign in 2018...
Tankpool24 Racing will again enter two full season trucks in the 2018 FIA European Truck Racing Championship.
The German team will again run two Mercedes-Benz trucks, one for double champion Norbert Kiss and a second one for Steffen Faas.
While Kiss returns for a third straight season for the Markus Bauer owned team, Faas will undertake his first full campaign in the FIA ETRC after showing well in two outings in 2017 with Team Schwabentruck.
Tankpool24 Racing won eight races in 2017 with Kiss taking six and his then teammate Andre Kursim claiming two. The team has been a consistent presence at the front of the field over the last two seasons and now targets a title challenge in 2018.
Faas is an accomplished circuit racer but has just two events (Nurburgring and Slovakiaring in 2017) to draw upon.
“The driving behaviour of a truck is completely different and you have to get used to it,”Faas said after his first races last summer.
“The response of the truck is way slower. You need to take the turns much slower, set the truck right and accelerate after you’ve taken the turn. It takes some experience to handle it right.”
“With regard to the size I’m not afraid of it since I’m driving a road truck from time to time in my job,” added the 33-year old.
“In truck racing it might take some time to become a front-runner. It’s never easy to start from scratch and be back to square one. But I’d have the necessary motivation to go through this process.” said the German, who very much enjoys being a part of the FIA ETRC family.
“The atmosphere is great. People are making me feel welcomed and it seems like they appreciate me being a rather young driver bringing in some fresh air.”
