In the jungle of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship, one team is intent on surviving and thriving! The Lion Truck racing team are set to roar into the 2016 season with Anthony Janiec aiming to make the most of a full campaign in the familiar yellow truck.
The long winter has seen the team, which takes inspiration for its name from itshome town– Lyon; Lion Racing is owned by Patrick Folleas and competes across Europe with a distinctive yellow MAN TGS 18-480 truck.
The team is managed and run by Jonathan André who oversaw the team take a memorable win on home ground at Nogaro last June. The winter has been spent ensuring the best preparation for the season and the team is confident of causing more upsets in 2016.
“We have been working a lot on the chassis of the truck to reduce the weight, the goal for us is to be as close to the minimum weight as possible,” said André. “The mechanics have been working hard on all points of the truck including the suspension and various other important areas. The truck is now almost ready and we will test very soon.”
Janiec is impatient to get started and has been in the gym working hard on honing his physical fitness for the new season ahead.
“Speilberg is a very technical circuit and one more for the truck than the driver really, but it is a challenge with the straights being followed by three tight right-hand corners,” said Janiec. “I have been work hard on my physical condition to make sure I am better than last season.”
“The objective for us this season is to improve step-by-step and we aim for the top five,” continued Janiec. “Last year we finished in seventh position but I think the top five this season is possible so we will push very hard to achieve this. We are very strong in Nogaro as we proved last year.”
