Jochen Hahn (Team Hahn Racing) looked formidable from the early running at Misano, but it was Adam Lacko in his Buggyra International System-run Freightliner, who narrowly took the pole. The Czech driver outqualified Norbert Kiss (Team Tankpool24 Racing) in the closest qualifying session in the history of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship.

Super Pole

Jochen Hahn started the Super Pole session on a high, taking provisional pole positon on his first run with a 2:03.23s lap, but was then just to eclipsed by first Norbert Kiss and seconds later Adam Lacko, who went just 0.001s faster than his Hungarian rival.

With Antonio Albacete (Truck Sport Lutz Bernau) and Steffi Halm (Reinert Racing) going fourth and fifth fastest respectively it set up the prospect of a thrilling race one later this afternoon.

Sascha Lenz claimed sixth quickest time in the Super Pole session as he continues his excellent start to the season in his SL Trucksport MAN entry.

André Kursim (Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz) set the pace in the new for 2017 Promoter’s Cup category, with his time of 2:05.590s, which was good enough for seventh place overall.

Sharing the fourth row of the grid with Kursim is Red Bull Ring race three victor José Rodrigues. The Reboconorte MAN was the closest Chrome categorised driver to Kursim in the session.

Gerd Körber, who went eighth fastest in timed practice, took part in Super Pole, but was later excluded due to overspeeding in the earlier session. This ensured that he will now start the race from the back of the grid.

Thomas Robineau rewarded the hard work of his crew after they performed a clutch change on his MAN truck immediately prior to the qualifying. The Frenchman will start from ninth position on the grid in his first appearance of 2017.

Enes Draganovic, who took over the cockpit of his Buggyra International Racing System Freightliner from son Alen Draganovic, will start from 10th place on the grid on his FIA ETRC debut.

Round four of the 2017 FIA European Truck Racing Championship will take place at 15.00cet this afternoon.

Timed Practice

Jochen Hahn went fastest in the earlier timed practice which sets the top ten for Super Pole, recording 2:02.914 and comfortably placing himself on top of the timesheets. The German was followed by Norbert Kiss, Steffi Halm, Adam Lacko and Antonio Albacete, who rounds out the top five and securing their place in the Super Pole session.

André Kursim (Team Tankpool 24 Racing), set the pace in the Promoter’s Cup in the free practice session and also set the seventh fastest overall.
Thomas Robineau, who joined the FIA ETRC grid for round two this weekend, made it into Top 10 in the dying stages of the session, after his team fought valiantly to change the clutch after he missed the entire second practice session this morning.

Missing out on Super Pole were Eduardo Rodrigues (Reboconorte MAN) and Dominique Orsini, and as a result they will start from 11th and 12th respectively.
