Vršecký takes double at Buddh

It was a memorable weekend of quality truck racing action at the Buddh International circuit in Delhi, India at the weekend, as several European drivers made starring appearances in the T1 PRIMA Truck Racing Championship.

Norbert Kiss, Ryan Smith, Gerd Korber, Shane Brereton, Thomas Robineau, Antonio Albacete, David Vršecký and Steffi Halm all took part in the comprehensively backed Tata Motors weekend.

Racing in the PRO class category, the eight former and current FIA European Truck Racing Championship stars raced alongside six British Truck Racing Association (BTRA) drivers

Qualifying saw Norbi Kiss set the fastest time but he was denied a pole position start after he, along with Ryan Smith and Steffi Halm, were given post session penalties.

The races saw plenty of action to delight the large crowd as David Vršecký took two victories for the Team Dealer Daredevils squad. The first of these was ahead of Gerd Korber (Dealer Warriors) and the second from Norbert Kiss (Tata Technologies) by less than half a truck length!

German veteran Korber took third place in the second event, while BTRA driver David Jenkins claimed third in the first 8-lap race T1 PRIMA Racing PRO class.

The Super Class champion race was won by Pitambar, who took the chequered flag ahead of Shiv Singh.

Nagarjuna topped the Champion class race ahead of Malkheet Singh in a close contest.

The racing last weekend was attended by Bollywood star and Tata brand ambassador Akshay Kumar. The well-known actor flagged off the International race.

Last weekend also saw the public debut of the new 1000bhp Tata Prima race truck which was demonstrated by Ben Horne.
