Two wins and a second place finish from Jarama means Jochen Hahn has maintained his 35-point advantage over Adam Lacko atop the FIA European Truck Racing Championship standings, with one round to go at Le Mans.
Two wins and a second place finish from Jarama means Jochen Hahn has maintained his 35-point advantage over Adam Lacko atop the FIA European Truck Racing Championship standings, with one round to go at Le Mans.
Their season-long duel will go down to the wire after the two combatants scored 52 points apiece in Spain, Lacko adding his 13th win of the season in race one and beating Hahn to complete the race four podium after Hahn had taken the upper hand in races two and three.
After leaving the Nurburgring one point behind his Czech rival, treble ETRC champion Hahn has led the standings since the Hungaroring in his Hahn Racing MAN truck, extending his advantage when Lacko suffered a costly engine failure at Zolder.
However, Lacko’s impressive tally of wins demonstrate that Hahn cannot afford to take anything for granted in France, with 60 points still up for grabs across the final four races.
Third in the standings is Rene Reinert, who won twice at the Bugatti circuit last year. Following his best points haul of the year at Jarama, the German will hope to continue his good run of form in France, but will have to look over his shoulder for Reinert Racing stablemate Steffi Halm, who sits 18 points behind in fourth.
Norbert Kiss’ previously firm grip on fifth was loosened by a DNF in race four, which was won by the Lion Truck Racing MAN of Anthony Janiec. The Frenchman’s first victory of the season has elevated him to within four points of defending champion Kiss, with Halm’s fourth place also not out of sight.
Two podium appearances in the last three ETRC rounds helped Sascha Lenz climb up the table to seventh at the expense of Gerhard Koerber, who was absent from Jarama. The Team Schwabentruck Iveco driver, who also skipped the Nogaro meeting, will hope to return in style at Le Mans after taking a podium from race four last year.
A strong fourth place for Ellen Lohr at Jarama helped the Truck Sport Lutz Bernau MAN driver to consolidate her ninth place in the standings ahead of Jiri Forman, who leapfrogged absent Most winner Ryan Smith to complete the top ten.
In the Team’s Championship, Team Reinert Adventure’s unassailable 146 point lead sees the German squad crowned champions with a round to spare, while their nearest rivals Buggyra 1969 equally cannot be caught for second place by Lion Truck Racing-Lenz and are confirmed runners-up.
