Buggyra International Racing System’s Adam Lacko dominated the second FIA ETRC Super Pole session of the weekend at the Zolder and claimed his ninth pole of the 2016 season.
Lacko set the benchmark early on with a time of 1m57.408s on his first timed lap in the Super Pole session. The Czech driver then improved that time on his second attempt, by putting in a 1m57.351s.
Championship rival Jochen Hahn will line up alongside Lacko. The German was 0.730s slower on his fastest lap and was initially pushed down to third place by René Reinert, just seconds before the end of the session. Reinert, however, had his best time deleted for hitting a penalty marker
Reinert’s second fastest time of the session was still quick enough to secure third place, ahead of teammate Steffi Halm. Behind the two Reinert Racing drivers, Norbert Kiss and Gerd Körber will line up on the third row of the grid.
Lion Truck Racing’s Anthony Janiec will share row four with Buggyra International Racing System’s Jiri Forman, while Sascha Lenz and André Kursim qualified their trucks on the fifth row for Race Three.
The third race of the Belgian Truck Grand Prix weekend starts at 14:35 local time. To follow all the action via live timing and text updates, visit our Race Centre here.
Hahn on top in qualifying
Hahn set the fastest time in the Qualifying session that preceded Super Pole. The German’s 1m58.428s was over half a second quicker than Lacko’s time in qualifying yesterday.
Hahn beat Reinert by 0.272s, with yesterday’s pole man Lacko in third place, just 0.051s shy of Reinert. Behind Lacko, Janiec and Körber produced identical lap times to advance to Super Pole. Sascha Lenz, Steffi Halm, Jiri Forman, André Kursim and Norbert Kiss all finished in the top ten.
Janiec’s fastest lap time knocked Ellen Lohr out of the top ten. Despite setting faster lap times towards the end of the session she was unable to make it back into the top ten and the Truck Sport Lutz Bernau driver will start Race Three from 11th position.
Eduardo Rodrigues qualified his MAN in 12th place, while Erwin Klein Nagelvoort will start from the seventh row on the grid.
Thomas Robineau’s MAN hit trouble on his first time lap, forcing the Frenchman to abandon his qualifying run, while Finland’s John Hemming did not take part in qualifying.
