Jochen Hahn carried on from where he left off yesterday by taking his second pole position of the weekend at the Autodrom Most.
The championship leader posted a time of 2m01.847s on his first flying lap, becoming the first man all weekend to lap inside the 2m02s boundary in doing so.
Hahn’s effort was nearly three tenths quicker than his pole time on Saturday and some four tenths faster than Race One winner Adam Lacko’s Buggyra International Racing System ‘FatFox’, which topped the morning warmup session.
René Reinert again set the third quickest time in his MAN, but had his Super Pole times cancelled for overspeeding and will duly start tenth.
Anthony Janiec will therefore start third in his Lion Truck Racing MAN, edging out yesterday’s double podium finisher Steffi Halm and Gerd Körber. After failing to finish both races yesterday, Team Schwabentruck IVECO driver Körber will be hoping for better luck today starting from row three alongside Sascha Lenz.
Running high on confidence after taking his first FIA ETRC win yesterday, Ryan Smith was promoted to seventh after both Norbert Kiss and Jiri Forman had their best times deleted for hitting a penalty marker.
Local driver Jiri Forman did well to qualify seventh after his best time was deleted for hitting a safety marker and will share row four with Ryan Smith, running high on confidence after taking his first ETRC win yesterday.
Norbert Kiss was penalised for the same offence as Forman, but ran out of time to complete another lap and will line up ninth ahead of Reinert in Race Three, which starts at 14:25 local time. You can follow all the action as it happens through our Race Centre here.
Hahn on top in qualifying
Jochen Hahn sent out a warning to his rivals with the fastest time in the Qualifying session that decided the top ten runners to progress to Super Pole.
The German set a quick lap of 2m02.438s to beat Adam Lacko and René Reinert, who was just 0.053 behind the Czech local hero.
Steffi Halm set the fourth quickest time ahead of Anthony Janiec, but behind them there was plenty of excitement as Jiri Forman was bumped from the top ten by Sascha Lenz.
Desperate not to be knocked out in front of his home crowd, Forman gave his all to make it back into the top ten, but the Buggyra Freightliner truck was penalised for hitting a penalty marker and needed a third attempt before he could displace André Kursim’s Tankpool 24 Racing Mercedes-Benz.
However, a late improvement from Ryan Smith meant Forman had a nervous wait to see if Kursim, Ellen Lohr (Truck Sport Lutz Bernau MAN) or the repaired MAN of Shane Brereton could respond, but none could, much to the relief of the Czech fans.
Lohr’s times were subsequently cancelled for overspeeding, so she will start from the back of the grid.
