This weekend the memory of János Krasznai is honoured with a special award to be presented to the winner of the fastest lap from Saturday and Sunday in the FIA ETRC races.

This weekend the memory of János Krasznai is honoured with a special award to be presented to the winner of the fastest lap from Saturday and Sunday in the FIA ETRC races.

Krasznai was a much respected and loved figure in Hungarian truck racing where he was the founding father of truck racing in the 1980s and 1990s. His effort and skill helped the first ever international truck race take place in front of 130,000 people in 1987.

Racing a Mercedes 184S truck in 1989, Krasznai finihsed a highly creditable third in the championship.

The spiritual truck racing mentor and hero of Norbert Kiss, Krasznai kept a keen interest in truck racing right up until his death last November.

This weekend János‘ widow Marta Sazbo will be present, and the fastest lap combined on Saturday and Sunday will be awarded the commemartive trophy in his memory.
